How do I configure my email program? Print

  • 33

Whatever your email program or application, here are the parameters you will need to configure it so that it can retrieve your new messages correctly. Depending on the capabilities of your email program, you will have the choice between a connection using one of the POP3 or IMAP protocols (if you are unsure or don't know how to choose, consult our recommendations: What to choose between IMAP and POP?). You will also have the choice between a secure connection (recommended) or not.

To configure more specifically your email software (Outlook, MacOS, iPhone, Thunderbird, etc...) you will probably prefer to consult the FAQ topics dedicated to them: Email management.

Secure connection (SSL/TLS) - recommended -

: Username: Your email address to be consulted (for example support@ma-boutique-en-ligne.com)

Password: The password you set when creating your e-mail address (for more information, please see: How do I create an e-mail account on my domain? and How do I retrieve my e-mail account password?)

Outgoing mail, SMTP configuration:

Outgoing mail always uses the SMTP protocol, regardless of the protocol chosen (POP3 or IMAP). This is the method that is only used to send your e-mails.

Server: mail.mydomain.ch
For example, if your main domain name is my-online-shop.com, then your server will be :
mail.my-online-shop.com

SMTP port: 465

Authentication: required

Incoming mail :

Incoming mail allows you to retrieve your new messages and possibly consult your archived messages (IMAP only):
Server: mail.mondomaine.ch
For example, if your main domain name is my-online-shop.com, then your server will be :
mail.my-online-shop.com

IMAP port: 993

POP3 port: 995

Non-secure connection - not recommended -

: This connection mode should only be used if your email software or application does not allow you to configure a secure connection. Indeed, this configuration does not guarantee an optimal security for the protection of your email data.
